Nala Sinephro’s “Endlessness” is perfection.

I truly, truly try not to overuse or overstate when I hear a brilliant album and then recommend it for this tiny corner of the internet. But I just couldn’t stop marveling at this album’s compositional elegance, experimentation in synth-infused mayhem and reserved ambience and its brilliant exploration of jazz to bind the work together.

I couldn’t be more happy to crown this masterpiece my favorite non-vocal album of 2024. Yet, I also spoke lovingly of 28 additional albums in this category.

Home to my non-vocal favorites, this playlist includes everything from the light classical elegance of Masakatsu Takagi, the experimental jazz of Nala Sinephro, as mentioned before, and the ambient brilliance of Claire Rousay.

This playlist soothed my mental and at times, physical weariness and proved a source of significant comfort in a multitude of settings. Whether it was at the gym, taking a nap or gardening, this playlist evolved to become perhaps my most visited of 2024.

One of the most rewarding aspects of this past year was curating my 2024 Float & Repose Playlist and I’m so excited to continue this odyssey next year.
