"Brat" summer is the very essence of what makes music fun.

Charli xcx's takeover of the zeitgeist felt immediate, but perhaps most importantly, it felt very inclusive. I have ZERO desire to go to a club, nor would my 36-Y/O dad vibes feel at all welcome in any "cool" establishment. But I think the genius of Charli's marketing and how good the music is, allowed for everyone to feel in some way connected.

But outside Charli, the music world did feel like it slowed down just a bit. Outside of slightly bigger releases of AURORA, Omar Apollo and Lil Yachty and James Blake's experimental album, I was not as taken.

Releases by Camilla Caballo, Megan Thee Stallion and Gracie Abrams did not really connect, though I really wanted them to. I was hoping for the continuation of what has been a stellar year in music already.

As I get ready to publish my 2024 Mid-Year lists, June really does feel like a cap. Perhaps it is just me, but I feel like the second-half of the year will establish itself as a separate entity.

Take Care!!!!!
