We are five months through the year and it weirdly feels complete.
I jokingly made a reel this last month about overzealous music reviewers ready for AOTY season. While I will admit I do feel a pinch of burnout from this hobby, which I have learned is very normal in this community, I think this also comes from a place of contentment.
Of the biggest names, we have new Billie Eilish, Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa, Ariana Grande, Kacey Musgraves and Kali Uchis. This extends further with the likes of Vampire Weekend, The Last Dinner Party, Norah Jones and Faye Webster.
But no just the bigger names, but my Below Radar category has given the names of Mannequin Pussy, English Teacher, Waxahatchee, Julia Holter, Mdou Moctar and Camera Obscura.
There is no shortage of great music released from the great names above.. and I haven't even listed all the 'Love" I have collected from Hidden Gem and Instrumental albums.
As we head into the last month until the mid-year mark, I'm excited to see just how much more amazing music we can collect as a community. As is the case most years, once we get past the summer months, most AOTY lists are already complete.
